Lunar Fancies – Shipping Policy & Live Arrival Guarantee
At Lunar Fancies, the health and well-being of our goldfish is our highest priority. Each fish undergoes a thorough quarantine process before shipping. We also fast fish for three (3) days prior to shipment to reduce waste during transit and ensure safer travel.
Shipping Schedule
- We ship every Monday (excluding holidays) via FedEx Overnight for safe, speedy delivery.
- SF Bay Area locals (by request only): enjoy same-day local delivery or free East Bay mid-way pickup, available Mon–Fri, with weekend options by request.
- Delivery times are subject to the carrier’s schedule, and arrival may occur at any time on the scheduled delivery day.
- We can hold fish for up to two weeks from the purchase date. If an order is canceled during the holding period, a cancellation fee will apply (see our Return and Refund Policy).
- Please ensure someone is available to promptly bring the package indoors upon arrival.
Shipping Cost
- We offer FedEx Priority Overnight shipping within the continental United States (sorry, we can’t deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories yet!) to ensure your fish arrive safely and healthy. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout with a $45 flat-rate, regardless of your location.
- Estimated Cost: $45 flat rate per 1–2 fish bundle (~5 inches each) or 3-Fish Bundle (~2 inches each)
- SF Bay Area locals: enjoy $17 flat-rate same-day local delivery or free East Bay mid-way pickup, available Mon–Fri, with weekend options by request.
- Orders with More Than 2 Fish (~5 inches each) or 3-Fish Bundle (~2 inches each): Please contact us before placing your order so we can arrange shipping and provide a quote.
- We do not offer free shipping. However, for a limited time, San Francisco East Bay customers may enjoy free local pickup by meeting halfway — just message us to arrange!
Packaging
- All shipments are packed in insulated boxes to maintain stable water temperature during transit.

Ice packs are included during warm weather on a case-by-case basis (depending on local conditions). Heat packs are not used for goldfish, as cooler water retains more oxygen and ensures safer transport.
Lost or Misdelivered Packages
- If your tracking shows “Delivered” but you have not received the package, contact the carrier immediately.
- Lunar Fancies is not responsible for packages after the carrier marks them as delivered. However, we will review situations on a case-by-case basis and may offer shared loss solutions.
Delays
- While FedEx is highly reliable, delivery delays can occur.

We cover DOA or with severe cosmetic damage incidents caused by delays but do not refund shipping costs for delayed deliveries.
In the rare event a fish arrives DOA (Dead on Arrival) or with severe cosmetic damage, a refund may be possible if the criteria in our Return and Refund Policy are met. Once the fish are in your care, their ongoing health is your responsibility.
